Anecdotally, there appears to be a pretty high correlation between perfectionism and AIP…

As we each dig further into our own personal autoimmune-related healing, there’s ‘stuff’ that surfaces. One of the common pieces of ‘stuff’ that I see come up in AIP Reset and with my one-on-one clients is reframing PERFECTIONISTIC tendencies into more constructive stories. This can take some work after years of both imposing high standards on ourselves and trying to live up to the expectations of others.

In this Facebook Live, I’m talking about the difference between demanding perfection and striving for excellence. There’s a subtle but significant difference in meaning between the two.

Why Self Compassion is NOT SelfishA big part of releasing perfectionistic tendencies is learning self-compassion. Sounds easy, but this can prove to be a BIG challenge for many of us. The one surprising fact that convinced me what a deal changer this practice can be is that not learning self-compassion was holding back my healing.

First rule of perfectionism – don’t tell anyone about your tendency towards perfectionism. Not even yourself. Instead, tell yourself, “I just have high standards.”
