I gasp, and I’m Eve in the Garden of Eden, and he’s the serpent, and I cannot resist. (Anastasia from ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’)
I quite like this wee story that is currently doing the rounds…
Guests staying at the Damson Dene Hotel in England’s Lake District are in for a shock if they reach for the ubiquitous Bible for solace. The hotel has replaced the Good Book in the bedside tables of its 40 guest rooms with E.L. James’ erotic blockbuster ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.
How titillating!
Classic….It is amazing how one book (well three really) can have the world captivated….. yes I am on the third book, although I have to admit when i bought it I had no idea what it was about – Then I realised why people have Kindles!!!
It was even doing the rounds at Gwinganna when I was there, BCD!
Download and read “A Guy’s Secret Guide ti 50 Shades of Grey” from Amazon (99 cents) and you will never want to read the original!
Do I really want to do that? – Or shall I just pass your message onto LM?
I am yet to read this book…
Have you read it yet?
Good?
I will admit I am one of the masses, B. Badly written yet strangely compelling is my verdict!
I’m resisting this book, not deliberately but I still love reading crime novels and so far the publicity around 50 shades of grey is not convincing me to divert my attention, plus I followed the crowd and read the Twilight series – that is time that I will never, ever get back.
The idea of replacing the bible with a work of fiction does appeal though 🙂
2BDs – I think it’s fairly safe to say that you can happily continue resisting. I’m a far bigger advocate for the Jack Reacher, series if you’re after some pure escapism – and they have the added benefit of being a group of books you can happily share with all your male friends!
I do think this is a brilliant marketing strategy – to put 50 Shades in every hotel room. The story has now gone viral – and this is just a small hotel in the Lake District!
Yes Jack Reacher would be my preference, have only read a couple and I loved them.
I agree that it is a brilliant marketing strategy. But, I have resisted reading the book so far. I’m a big Jack Reacher fan, too!
Hard not to love Jack – he’s a babe!
Great idea, and a way to save some bucks in not buying it! They are making a movie of this book…. !
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
Amen!
I’ve not read the book, nor do I have the inclination, but your excerpt just cracks me up. “I’m jelly in a jar of Goober, and he’s the peanut butter, and I cannot resist.”
Zhang! Thanks for popping by… I have no idea what Goober is (a kind of jam?)
It’s always lovely to have new commenters 🙂
